The first days after the job change: Now or never
Nowadays, changing jobs is almost routine for many employees. But if you change too often as an highly professional expert, this is still regarded as a lack of adaptability. After all, everyone must develop a sense of when the best time to go or stay for themselves. Here are the best tips to make the job change to success:
- Get ready for the first day of work. This includes:
- Have I prepared all papers for the HR department and the new boss?
- How long do I need to get to work? Have I scheduled enough backup time to be on time at my work place?
- Is there a dress code to consider?
- Are there any ambiguities? Did I prepared a note with my most important points and questions for the first day?
- Arrange with your new boss a pleasant training.
Consider time and content. Set training measures. Set milestones and get an experienced mentor for training on the job as well as a contact person.
- Showing dedication, attention and interest up from the first minute
actively listening, asking questions, observing, questioning, wanting examples and patterns, being quite with evaluations and criticism.
- Complete the first tasks with great care and punctuality.
Show a thoughtful and dedicated way of dealing with tasks. Try to clarify questions directly.
- Dealing with the new colleagues
Looking for contact from the beginning and build a network, without complimenting one another. Be committed, honest and concrete to build trust. Always keep promises and offers very seriously, or even better, not express them.
